IFMSA-Americas Regional Meeting

Once again we are gathered here in the IFMSA-Americas region as a family, to bring our ideas and efforts together in order to improve our region and IFMSA. A task that I’m sure you will all enjoy doing and which results will bring great benefits to your NMOs and our region.

Our Regional Meeting offer us an unique opportunity to work face to face on key important issues for our countries and communities, it allows us to discuss and collaborate in order to find solutions to important global health challenges that face us as future health care professionals. We are in front of a new era of Global Health, one in which new priorities and focus points will be defined and that is precisely why we have chosen as this year’s Regional Meeting Theme: “Health Development in the Post 2015 Agenda”. This is your chance to take a leading role in defining policy and advocate for a better, more sustainable and developed healthcare in The Americas.

This year we are also grateful for having hosted a Team of Officials Meeting in the Americas, the first one since 2005, which incidentally also took place in Panama. On the other hand we are proud to have fourteen of our IFMSA Officials in the Regional Meeting, the biggest number we have had in recent history.

We are also having the biggest presence in the region’s history, with 19 National Member Organizations attending. We can truly say that this is THE IFMSA-Americas meeting.

For these and many more reasons, this promises to be an unforgettable Regional Meeting, one that will set the standards for all Regional Meetings to come! So I invite you all to participate actively in all the different sessions and activities, to take advantage and enjoy everything that has been prepared for you.
